Susan O’Neill

Susan O’Neill will feature at ‘The Beatyard Presents’ Series at Pot Duggans this Autumn. Here we will be presenting a lineup curated by ourselves here at Bodytonic.

A critically acclaimed performer, Susan O’Neill is one of Ireland’s brightest emerging talents.  Her independently released debut album ‘Found Myself Lost’ was nominated for ‘Album of the Year’ by Hot Press in 2017. As her artistry grew, the singer and multi-instrumentalist coupled her solo performances with extensive touring, lending her talents to Irish dance band King Kong Company, as well as the queen of traditional music Sharon Shannon. Having wowed audiences on iconic international festival stages in her solo endeavours (Electric Picnic, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Edmonton Folk Music Festival), Susan has now spent the last while further honing her own craft.

Nurturing her musical skills as one of the youngest members of the Ennis Brass Band and gaining her first gospel influences with the ‘Really Truly Joyful Gospel Choir’, Susan has always been intertwined with the art and music of the region, gaining a huge appreciation and love for its many avenues. She has recently made her directorial role debut, making a cross-spectrum arts documentary in historic Bunratty Castle, Co. Clare.

In 2020, Susan was nominated for ‘Irish Female Artist of the Year’ (Hot Press) as well as highlighted as best live performance in 2020 for her debut on Other Voices ‘Courage’ series by the Irish Examiner in their end of year lists. An enigmatic singer-songwriter, the year was capped off by receiving the RTÉ Radio 1 ‘Song of the Year’ award for her collaboration with multi-platinum artist Mick Flannery on their song ‘Baby Talk’.

Susan was invited again by Other Voices in May 2021 to perform as part of a special co-curation with the US Embassy in Dublin. Hosted at the US Ambassador’s residence, Susan took part in this noteworthy celebration of Bob Dylan for his 80th birthday. Susan performed alongside Paul Brady, Lisa Hannigan and Mick Flannery to name but a few iconic and beloved Irish artists.

Susan is a songwriter of hidden depths, a singer with a voice that is equal parts balm and blowtorch. She is audacity personified, a free spirit. A real performer.

Susan O’Neill and Mick Flannery continue to collaborate, currently working on a full album titled ‘In The Game’ due for release in late 2021.
